Food is good, but it's always loud as hell in there.

There food was just mediocre to me, nothing special. I also ordered a margarita and it tasted like one of the frozen bagged drinks you get from the grocery store. I wont be back

We are regulars and the staff is friendly and efficient. They remember our preferences and the food is very good.

I ordered the Poblanas Enchiladas for take out and was very disappointed in the meal. After getting home I ended up throwing it out, it was already late. I was expecting a peppery green sauce, but instead was served a sweet, brown, Mole Poblano sauce and not what is advertised on the menu.The attendant taking my order over the phone even asked if I had it before, which was a flag.Please update your menu.

I was out and about and decided to get some lunch. I pulled over to check my phone for a place to eat. I looked up and I was in Jalapenos parking lot. Well... Im here. Why not? At first I was a bit skeptical. It was 1:15ish and the parking lot was very empty. I go inside and get seated. There was one other table taken in this large restaurant. I was thinking this does not bode well. They gave me a lunch menu and a specials menu. I asked is this the lunch menu and they said yes. The lunch specials were not cheap. To me, lunch specials are supposed to be cheap and not as big as dinner. I ordered the chicken quesadilla. It came out and it was pretty big. Also, it was delicious. It was really good. It had a ton of flavor. This was a pleasant surprise. I dont know why this place was so empty. I will definitely be going back.

Love it here. I have been coming here for a few years now. Even though I no longer live near I still find my way back. It's so cozy, good service and great food and drinks.

Went to Jalepenos bcus LaTolteca was packed. This was every bit as good if not better! Generous portions, attentive staff, quality price! Only difference is atmosphere, needs attention. But worth it for sure!!!!

My first time here was wayyyy back, maybe around 2009 or 2010. I was a kid and my mom had brought me and my siblings with some friends of hers We went every once in awhile from that point on. I eventually moved away from the area in 2011 and didn't go back until 2016. I took my husband there for the first time when we were out shopping in that area and we've been regulars ever since. I've always loved the food and my husband loves the atmosphere and the quality of food. The waitresses are absolutely amazing and the food has never disappointed us!

Great food, excellent flavors, good prices

The best tasting tamales, rice and beans I've ever had besides what my Mexican Grandparents used to make. Ate here one last time before we moved. Going to miss this place. Order the Guadalajara special. It was my favorite.

Very pleasant experience. Wait staff greeted us cheerfully and we arrived 29 minutes before closing. She checked on us and remained pleasant throughout our dining experience. The food was good and made fresh to order. Will definitely return. We had chimichangas and enchiladas.

Jalepeno's is awesome. The restaurant is clean and beautiful. The server was friendly and kept our glasses full. The food was hot and delicious and exactly as ordered. It's a great place for great Mexican food.

It was quickly served, but the enchiladas I ordered were not good. Meat tasted like canned chicken. Los amigos is better.

Great customer service, even during COVID-19. Had their seafood enchiladas and my husband had their beef taco salad. We were both very pleased and will be returning. Thank you!

Being a Hispanic lady from California it's always hard to find "Just Like Abuelas" foods. I've eaten at many many Mexican restaurants on the East coast and this one has been my ultimate favorite. I always order the Guadalajara Especial and the taquitos and tamales that come with it are YUMMY!! The rice&beans are seasoned and cooked just right and the fajitas are superb. I order there anytime I get a tamale craving and don't feel like tearing up my kitchen to make them.

It was okay nothing spectacular. I wouldnt go back even if i lived closer.

The server's remember us. Maybe not by name, but you see they recognize you, and take you to the booth or table you usually sit. (If possible)

One of my favorite places to go eat in all of Hampton Roads. $1 tacos on Tuesday. Buffet on Sunday. Great food and great service.

Nothing we had was good. Service was terrible. There are a lot of Mexican food restaurants near by that are leaps and bounds above Jalapenos.

When you walk in uppity think it's a bit dated. But don't let that fool you! Clean, spot on service andReally, really hot, fresh, good food -fast! That is the difference with a privately owned restaurant! Jalapenos is my new favorite Mexican restaurant! Highly recommend and yes, they have the white sauce too!

Was excited to eat there after reading such amazing reviews. Sadly the waiter didnt listen and brought avocado to the table after specifically being told of my allergy. The food was too salty or no flavor at all. Would not recommend to anyone.

Better than the big chains because they cater to food allergies and dietary need. I have a onoin allergy and for Mexican food the large chains told me to eat chips or nothing. This small restaurant and their staff are amazing. So I've got my allergy and my girlfriend is Vegan and they handle this as well as any normal situation and we have dined in and gotten take out without any mix ups or issues at all. Wish I'd have found them sooner but glad we gave them a chance. You will be to

I am usually a Plaza kind of girl.. but because of the holiday Plaza was packed with a 2 hour wait. So we decided to try Jalapenos. To my amazement the food was amazing. I was worried about not having white sauce (like Plaza) but they have it. It is a little thiner than what I am used to but it was good. The portions are enormous and the pricing is great. I will definitely be back.

Never disappointed! Always great food and great staff. We have been eating there for 4 years now at least twice a month, we love this place! Margaritas are awesome!
